This catalogue of coilformers contains information on all our products of the EC-Series
EC-coilformers are mostly used for power conversion applications in switched-mode power supplies, dc-dc converters and transductors. We can supply coilformers made in high quality plastics (thermoplasts), matching your production requirements.
Accessories, such as EC-Clips and Safety-Class Spacers, are also included in this catalogue.
Wherever high-temperature soldering processes are used in connection with EC-Series coilformers, we recommend irradiation cross-linked plastics. This ensures that the mechanical properties - in particular those or gfr-polyamides - are maintained and breakages are reduced. For this reason NORWE offers all plastic components of the EC-Series in irradiated cross-linked materials.
In the short term, the cross-linked materials can be exposed to very high temperatures. Apart from improved aspects in production there may be interesting cost advantages, and a discussion with us could be useful.

EC Coilformers, Horizontal
The coilformers are made in gfr Polyamide PA66 of Type p6g (RTI long-range temperature +125°C). Pin material is tin bronze, tinned for solder-pins and brass, tinned for solder-tags. Maximum solder temperature 350°C, 2 sec.
Special materials - e.g. irradiated cross-linked - and designs on request, dimensions in mm/inch.
The coilformers are suitable for automatic winding on computer controlled machines. They are available with solder-pins in two different diameters. The coilformers have plastic stand-offs thus eliminating cold solder-joints when soldering into the pcb.
EC Coilformers, Vertical
The coilformers are made in gfr Polyamide PA66 of type p6g (RTI long-range temperature +125°C). Tag material is brass, tinned for solder-tags. Maximum solder temperature 350°C, 2 sec.
Special materials - e.g. irradiated cross-linked - and designs on request, dimensions in mm/inch.
The coilformers are suitable for automatic winding on computer controlled machines. The EC solder-tags are for side-wrapping and soldering. Since the lower ends of the solder-tags fit cleanly into the pcb, cold solder-joints are eliminated.
EC/CO Coilformers
The coilformers are made in gfr Polyamide PA66 of type p6g (RTI long-range temperature +125°C).
Special materials - e.g. irradiated cross-linked - and designs on request, dimensions in mm/inch.
These coilformers are suitable for winding with rectangular wires or foil. They are also utilized when low mounting heights are required. When ordering please quote type and order-code.
Safety Class with Spacers DR
Spacers are made in gfr Polyamide PA66 of type A RV250 nat. (RTI long-range temperature +100°C) and gfr Polyethylene Terephthalate PET of type SKYT.5220FR nat. (RTI long-range temperature +155°C).
Special materials - e.g. irradiated cross-linked - and design on request, dimensions in mm/inch.
The application of spacers DR in round winding section is advantageous for achieving required creepage and clearances between primary and secondary, and to the core. The spacers can be used cumulative for all dimensions.

Clips FK-EC
Suitable types of glues, such as Araldite, can be used to put EC cores together. Constant pressure must be maintained on the core-halfes until the glue has hardened. More advantageous and economic are the easily assembled clips FK. They are in stainless steel and can be used for both horizontal and vertical assemblies. The clamping pressure on the core-halfes remains practically constant regardless of temperature, and no pull is exerted on the coilformer.
Two clips are required per coilformer. A drop of glue may be used to connect coilformer and ferrite, also preventing frequency-noise. Special materials and design on request, dimensions in mm/inch.
