This catalogue of coilformers contains information on all our products of the PC Potcores-Series
Components for the PC-series are used in power conversion and in high quality oscillators with and high stability. As the wound coilformer is completely enclosed there is low magnetic leakage and resistance. We supply coilformers made in high quality thermplastics, connecting boards with terminals and plastic caps, matching your production requirements.
Wherever high-temperature soldering processes are used in connection with PC Potcores, we recommend radiation cross-linked plastics. This ensures that the mechanical properties - in particular those of gfr-polyamide - are maintained and breakages are reduced. For this reason NORWE offers all plastic components of the PC Potcores in irradiated cross-linked materials. Basically a cross-link enhancer is added to the thermoplast. The thermoplastic components are then exposed to Beta and/or Gamma radition and cross-linking takes place.
Through cross-linking the material loses its thermoplastic characteristics. It is, however, not a thermoset material. In the short term, the cross-linked materials can be exposed to very high temperatures. Apart from improved aspects in production there may be interesting cost advantages.
Fully tagged or pinned coilformers are - in small quantities - usually available from stock. We can also quote for coilformers with pins or tags fitted to your requirements. All lead-times are relatively short. Our extensive range of modular tooling allows almost unlimited constructional changes to meet customers specification, often by simple changes of tool inserts. In addition the modular tooling system allows extremely short tooling times and can be very cost effective.

The coils in pot-core assemblies are almost totally enclosed by the ferrite cores, resulting in low leakage and low electromagnetic interference. The integral terminals and channels for routing the wires allow fully automated winding on NC-winding machines.

Binding-on of the wires to the connecting board can be done using the NORWE mandrel assembly. The wires are insulated to the ferrite core, routing through side-channels in the connecting board. A snap-in insulating cap completes the pot-core assembly.

Insulating Caps
The insulating caps are made in gfr Polyamide PA66 of type p6g nat. (RTI long-range temperature +125°C). Special materials - e.g. irradiated cross-linked - and designs on request, dimensions in mm/inch. |

The insulating cap together with the connecting board provide mechanical protection for the potcores and electrical insulation. Together they from a compact component for easy pcb-mounting. The design of the Snap-in Cap also eliminates the use of spring-washers.
